Surfaid is running a benefit surf contest at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz this weekend. The contest is open to any team of four that can raise at least $5,000 for the organization. A professional surfer will be selected and added to each team, with priority picks going to the groups that raise the most money. The contest itself will be structured on a relay format, allowing each surfer to catch two waves before heading into the beach and passing their turn on to the next competitor. So far $35,542 has been donated to the cause.
Surfaid is “a non-profit humanitarian organisation whose aim is to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing.”
While there’s only a couple days left before the event kicks-off it’s still possible to get involved. To set up a team and seek fundraising, or donate to the cause click this link. For more information about Surfaid click here.
