While the 14th Dalai Lama concedes that war is sometimes necessary to defend against tyranny and oppression, he’s also quick to elaborate on how senseless, brutal, and destructive it is for many who are touched by it. Upon return to daily life many wounded veterans find the transition back into peaceful society challenging at best. Enter the healing properties of surfing and Operation Amped.

The mission of Operation Amped is to “share the “stoke” of the surfing community and the healing potential of surfing with seriously ill, injured, or disabled U.S. military veterans and their families.” The short documentary below offers more details on what the surf based organization is doing to make a difference in the lives of some of those who’ve been affected.
