Surfboard Drive For South Africa

Give your old surfboard a new life and support a great cause – that’s the concept behind Can’t Steal Our Vibe: A Surfboard Drive For South Africa coordinated by Positive Vibe Warriors. Surf shops throughout California will be working with local surf communities to collect donated surfboards and support Waves For Change and Surfers Not Street Children (SNSC).

Waves For Change is doing amazing things for kids in South Africa. According to their website the nonprofit organization “provides a child-friendly mental health service to at-risk youth living in unstable communities. Through access to safe spaces, caring mentors, and a provision of weekly Surf Therapy sessions, W4C gives children skills to cope with stress, regulate behaviour, build healing relationships, and make positive life choices.”

Watch the following video for a closer at what Waves For Change is doing to make a positive impact.

Likewise, SNSC is also doing big things for youth. SNSC “is a project that empowers ex street children as they move towards adulthood. The team of former street children, who are now top surfers, are not only committed to their own continued transformation and journey towards independence but are ambassadors and role models for other kids still on the streets as well as an advocacy voice on the phenomenon of street children.”

Here’s a video showcasing the some of the work SNSC is doing.
