The 2017 Boardroom International Surfboard Show is set to run from May 6-7th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego County. The event includes surfboard and wetsuit demos, live music, panel discussions, laminating demonstrations, surfboard auctions, and a “shape-off” where shapers compete to see who can best replicate an existing design. Some of the topics to be discussed include surfing in the olympics, big wave guns, channel bottom designs, an interview with Al Merrick, and shaping for world champions.
While the Boardroom International Surfboard Show is more focused on design than sustainability there will be aspects of environmentally conscious advances on display. Sustainable Surf, in partnership with INT and Suga Mats, will have a Waste To Waves upcycling center set up where people can recycle old foamies and neoprene back into the production of new surf gear and yoga mats. Sustainable Surf will also have ECOBOARDS on display at their booth.
